Why I started my blog - you might well ask!

So why did I start my blog?

Firstly I do like to write, not very well I will admit but I thought it was a good way to start putting down my thoughts as I never seem to get round to doing it on paper. That and inspired by Traction man I thought it would also improve my computer skills. I only use word, excel and email at work so not much of a computer geek to say the least.

Anyway I was looking at ways of improving my page when I found the Adsense button. Now, not that I think I will get any visitors and therefore make loads of dosh, I thought it another tool to try and add successfully which, I may say I did. Adsense they said would post advertisements relevant to the content of my page which, being about your average ex-pat family living in Tenerife meant (I thought) ads about renting / living / holidays in Tenerife. Imagine my horror then when I logged in to add a new post and found a humungus blue banner with the link Scientology.org plastered all over it! I mean what the hell has that got to do with living in Tenerife? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a religious phobic, I'm just not religious and furthermore I feel that to post religious (if you can call Scientology a religion) or even political adverts on peoples blogs without knowing their beliefs is just wrong. If any of my friends or family had seen that on my blog they would have thought that I had gone nuts or else been carted off to any one of the hundreds of caves on the island to be brainwashed or indoctrinated into some sudo faith! Needless to say I have now cancelled the Adsense account as they obviously don't have any sense at all.

And yes it rained!

Well as predicted yesterday, today was a wash out. It looks like it rained all night and it's been off and on all day today. Our normally sunny island is now nothing but a soggy piece of volcanic rock.

The good thing about all this is that tomorrow will see lots of green shoots (more than we can say for the economy), the hills will be bright green and the air will be fresh instead of the heavy muggy feel it has had over the last couple of days.

Although Tenerife does have some 'pretty bits', the south can look very dull and brown during the summer months. After a good lashing of rain the difference is remarkable. We then have a few weeks of beautiful weather and lush greenery to accompany it.

Tomorrow it will be back to the grind - for me at least. Hubby is on the sick, motorbike accident nearly two years ago, still having therapy. Teenager will still be trying to get himself on some course or other. Middleist will be catching the school bus at 07:30 and Littleist will of course be asking yet again why he has to get dressed for school as he has already explained to us that he has quit!

Working in the estate agent business as you can imagine is not too exciting at the moment especially as we 'appeal' to the UK market. Nobody coming on holiday and those that are here are on a tight budget, no spare spondoolies to spend. Oh well at least I still have a job (for the moment that is) so best turn up for it! Lets hope this week is a little more interesting........

Out of the mouth of Littleist

Kids are so funny sometimes aren't they? Well my Littleist surely is, he comes out with some cracking comments (he's just 6 by the way). I wish I had noted them down over the years because some of them have been absolutely hilarious.

Well from now on I'm going to list some .................

Tuesday (2nd day back at school after extremely long summer holiday)
Dad: Come on son, time to get dressed
Littleist: Why where am I going?
Dad: School of course
Littleist: But I went yesterday!
Dad: Yes son I know but you have to go today as well
Littleist: Well I'm not going - I QUIT!

Littleist: I'm going to the toilet mummy
Mum: Ok give me a shout if you need any help
A few mins later......
Littleist: Urrrr, Arrghhhh, Urrr, Arrhhhh
Mum: You Ok in there?
Littleist: Arrrrrghhhhh, I think I'm having a baby!
Well today is the end of my working week, lunchtime actually. I was wondering what we could all get up to this weekend but uncharacteristically it's over cast and drizzily!

Hubby is crashed on the sofa for his afternoon siesta, Teenager has just emerged from his bedroom (14:40) followed by an equally dishevelled looking friend with a suitcase (not sure what that is all about. As far as I know he only stayed for one night!), Littleist is playing diving in the bath with his goggles on and Middleist is out with his mates somewhere. Even if I had something in mind to do with the family this afternoon, it appears that they all have their own agenda!

All in all it has been a pretty boring week apart from that is, finding the Traction Man blog. Having seen it featured in the newspaper online (not whilst working you understand) and having read most of the readable news from the UK (the majority of it being depressing PC crap), I decided to take a peek. Well what a good decision that was, it has made my week. One of the funniest things I've read in a long time. The poor bloke has been stuck in hospital for weeks on end and being fed some of the most revolting food stuffs you have ever seen. He posts photos of his gross fair on the blog for everyone to try and guess what it is. Some of the comments are priceless as are the articles posted on the blog. If you haven't heard of or come across him yet, go take a look
http://hospitalnotes.blogspot.com/ I'll guarantee you a belly full of laughs, it's brilliant!

It appears then that pool / beach are out of the question today and probably tomorrow too. Couple that with a satellite system showing endless repeats of repeats that I have repeatedly watched it looks like it's going to be a lounge around the house weekend. That's the thing about Tenerife you see, if the weather isn't good there isn't much else you can do. Oh well maybe this is the weekend that I should get out and about and take some photos to show you. Seeing that everybody else in the household is tied up doing their stuff I think that will probably be the best idea. Now, where did I put that camera?
